Surrounded by gallery space for exhibits, the stairway will detail on step risers the history of Port Washington.

Celebrating and embracing history

The Port Washington Historical Society is a thriving organization dedicated to preserving Port Washington’s rich heritage and inspiring the pride of future generations. The society tells the stories of the people who’ve lived here and works so that future generations can appreciate the historical significance of the community and all that it has to offer.

One of the ways the Society accomplishes this mission is by operating the Port Exploreum in the historic Henry and Hill building, built in 1907. Here at the museum, our engaging exhibits, with the help of technology, bring together the history of the area and the stories of its people. We believe the experience we’ve created here will entice visitors to return again and again.
